1Million MEN IN THE MAKING was founded by Jonathan Catherman, best selling author, senior education consultant, award-winning cultural strategist, and father of two boys. Jonathan has worked in public and private education for 23 years developing and delivering effective leadership models and instructional processes. For his advocacy and success in developing culturally relevant youth mentoring resources, Jonathan was awarded the Martin Luther King Drum Major for Service Award and 2016 President’s Volunteer Service Award. Jonathan is the author of the best selling book, The MANUAL TO MANHOOD.

In developing the MEN IN THE MAKING Clubs Jonathan collaborated with Matthew Ohlson, Ph.D., Director of Education Research at the University of North Florida. Founder and director of the award winning Collegiate Achievement Mentoring Programs, C.A.M.P. Gator and C.A.M.P. Osprey. Dr. Ohlson conducts research and instructs on the effectiveness of K-20 mentoring. Longtime friends and colleagues Catherman and Dr. Ohlson worked to align MEN IN THE MAKING Clubs instructional processes with research on the needs in youth development, education, athletics, workforce preparedness, and community engagement.
